ICF 2012. CASA DEL RIO, MELAKA. 30th Nov - 2nd Dec 2012.

Well another ICF meeting is over.
ICF 2012 was successfully held at Casa del Rio Hotel, Melaka from 30th Nov 2012 ( welcome dinner  at the Peranakan Rest, Jonker St ) till 2nd Dec 2012.

                                         Delegates registering on Day 1.
This time we saw a record turnout of 54 Malaysian Interventionist, and 15 Thais. With all the sponsors and faculty, the ballroom was filled with 80 people. The faculty included Dr Pieter Smits from Netherlands who spoke to us about the new disappearing stent, Dr Kirti, who taught us about the use of rotablator, Prof TH Koh who spoke on DAPT and Dr Wasan who showed us cases on the use of dedicated bifurcation stent ( AXXESS stent ).
We must have reviewed about 30 cines. We saw many complications from perforations, stuck Gwires, RCA spiral dissections and miss deployment of stents. We each have our own way and we learn to improve.
I must take a minute to warn all travellers.
Casa Del Rio Hotel, looks very impressive on the intenet, and has a fantastic location. The delegates ( when free ) and their spouses and family, could walk around in Historical Melaka, do some shopping, eat hawker food. BUT the software ( service was terrible ). It took 45 mins for me to get a pot of coffee for my delegates ( cost me RM 50 for 1 flask of coffee that has about 8 cups ), and charge me RM 80 per bottle of wine ( corkage ). Mind you, we have booked the whole hotel for this meeting, taking up 60 rooms out of the 65 rooms available.
It is 1 year old, and the bath room shower handle is broken. When we wanted to check out, they demanded that we return of room cards ( electronic cards ), or else they will charge us for lost cards. This is ridiculous. Never again to Casa del Rio.
All in all, ICF 2012 went very well. All attendees gave good feedback. But the Hotel, that is another story.
Well, one and all are looking forward to ICF 2013, if I am still able to organise, God willing.
