INITIAL STEPS TO A HEALTHIER AMERICA. THE AMERICAN FIGHT AGAINST OBESITY HAS BEGAN.

This week, besides 9/11, also mark the start of New York's Health Authority to limit the size of sodas served in New York. The authorities has announced, " The prohibition restricts soda drink servings to a maximum of 16 ounces in fast-food and other restaurants and places of public entertainment like stadiums. That's more than a normal can, but only half the size of the biggest, bucket-like container that patrons commonly guzzle from in cinemas, sports arenas and other outlets ".
Last week, McDonalds also announced that they will voluntarily label their food items served with the calorie load.

This is obviously in the right direction, so that consumers can know what they are consuming and also the amount of calories. This follows their 2008 campaign to remove transfat from their food items.
Both these moves by McDonalds and also New York Health Authorities should be lauded.
I wonder when our MOH will do the same?
