The price tag on health

A recent survey tells us how much was spent on the top ten drugs in the US over 2005.

The following are drugs for the heart

1) Lipitor - 12.9 Billion
2) Plavix - 5.9 Billion
5) Zocor - 5.3 Billion
6) Norvasc - 5.0 Billion
9) Pravacid - 4.0 Billion

To think that it takes up five slots in the top ten tells us that curing heart disease is an expensive proposition. Once again it's important to remember how much cheaper prevention is than cure.
